Non-Toxic Cleaner

Have you ever cleaned your bathroom, or mopped a floor thinking "my house is clean" only to later experience headaches, stomach pains, skin irritation, or catch a "cold".

Over the counter cleaners come with warning labels for a reason.  They contain harmful chemicals that can damage our lungs, skin, and many even cause cancer.  Yet, we use them because we want to "clean" our home.

None of us would ever consider drinking (ingesting) a toxic cleaner.  But, did you know that the two places on your body that have the largest pores or the bottom of your feet, and your rectum.  That's why suppositories work quickly, to get in the system faster.

And, what do we do when we shower, or put our babies in the "clean" tub.  We stand with bare feet or put the children in the bath sitting down.  "Ingesting" all of the harsh chemicals that break down our immune system.  And we pay for it with our health, as well as financially.

Young Living Thieves Cleaner truly is non-toxic.  it not only kills 99.96% of germs ( better than bleach) it does it without harsh chemicals.  And, instead of breaking down the immune system, it boosts our immune system while we clean.  WIN/WIN.

Also, economically Thieves Cleaner (because it comes concentrated in the bottle and is diluted to the strength  YOU want it) is less expensive per oz. than other cleaners.  It really is the wisest way to clean your home.  I use it to clean everything from wood to glass.  I add it to my laundry soap, and we even put it in our dishwasher.   It can even be used to completely replace these cleaning items as well.  Just add a cap full to your wash, or a few drops in the water with your dirty dishes.  :-)

Battling the Flu

The flu is running pretty rampant this year so I thought I'd share with you how the YL oils helped me get over the flu.

Since beginning my journey with Young Living oils about 4 years ago, I've had the flu only once.  Last year I finally caught it.  While others were being hit hard and spending time ( and money; lots of money) in the ER/Dr.'s offices and battling it for WEEKS, I decided to only use the oils/supplements.  My flu lasted 3 days.  Let me tell you how I did it; perhaps it will work for you.

First, I have to say upfront that I give all the glory to God.  Anytime I have an issue prayer is most definitely at the top of the list.  I am convinced God gave us the oils and plants to use for healing, but I will not forget the Creator of those plants/oils.

I began to feel bad one day at work and it was coming on fast.  I knew something wasn't "right".  I got chills and could feel it in my stomach.  I went home and the first thing I did was put Di-Gize and Peppermint on my stomach. I also drank 2 oz of NingXia Red.  I did this several times that first day and never got the "tummy issues" others were getting with the flu.  I also never vomited.

I then applied the following "antibiotic" oils to my feet and took them in a capsule as well; Thieves, Oregano, and  Frankincense and I went to sleep.  I awoke with a fever, but waited until my fever was over 102 to also add Peppermint to my feet.  I ran fever for less than 24 hours. I applied the same oils every two hours and drank 2 oz of NingXia Red each day.  My fever broke in the night and I continued the other oils for the rest of the day and much of the following day every two hours.  I also drank a lot liquids and drank vegetable broth and had popsicles.  It was later the second full day I was feeling better and was able to eat vegetable soup and saltines.  Again, continuing the oils, but still having no fever, tummy issues and vomiting.  I was gaining strength and energy back as well.

Upon the third day I had no symptoms of the flu whatsoever, but having battled the flu before I knew for certain that was what I had. I did continue the oils every 4 hours that day just to be sure I "knocked it out."  The next day all was back to normal.   :-)  Praise God!  I am approximating that the whole ordeal cost less than $15 in oils and NingXia Red and I missed 3 days of work.

Cough Syrup

As a companion to the Chest Rub you might also find the homemade cough syrup helpful.  I use 1 teaspoon of raw, local honey and add a drop of Young Living Ginger oil and a drop of Young Living Lemon oil.  You may also add a touch of cayenne pepper if you wish.  Take as needed to sooth a cough.

Homemade Chest Rub

I've made this chest rub the last couple of years and it has really worked for me and my family.  It lasts a long time if kept in and air tight, glass container.  Glass is best because the oils from plastic sometimes break down the beneficial properties of the oils.  Just like with the deodorant, if the coconut oils begins to break down due to heat in the home, just put it in the fridge for a bit.  The following is what I used: Coconut oil ( the solid kind), and Young Living's RC, Frankincense, Eucalyptus Blue, and  Peppermint.  I just filled a baby food jar with the coconut oil and added about 5 drops of Eucalyptus Blue, about 10 drops each of RC and Peppermint and a couple of drops of RC.  Mix it well and keep sealed until needed.  When you do need it just apply to chest and bottom of feet.  It works for us.

A few years ago I decided to try and make as many of our cleaning/hygiene products as I can.  I'm still working to build that list.  ;-)

A couple of years ago I came across this post instructing how to make homemade deodorant.   I tried it and love the results.  It works better than anything I have ever purchased over the counter and save a lot of money!  The part is it's made with Young Living oil.  How can that be bad?  :-)

I stress again that their are differences in Essential Oils.  I can say that Young Living works for me and I KNOW it does not have any "extras" added that might irritate my skin.  Give it a try and see if it works for you.  :-)  As always, contact me if you have any questions or want to know more about Young Living.  It truly is the best oil.

Homemade Deodorant

1/4 C baking soda
1/4 C cornstarch ( or arrowroot)
2-3 Tbl. of coconut oil ( the solid, cooking kind)
10-15 drops of Young Living oil.  ( I like Thieves, but Lavender would be great too.  Any of them that are antibacterial as well as smells great.)  :-)

Mix together well and keep in a glass jar with a lid.  If you are in a warm climate the coconut oil may separate.  Just put the deo. in the fridge for a bit.  Cold climate?  Run your hands under warm/hot water for a few minutes, dry you hand and then rub the deo. to get out of the container.  Your hands will heat the deo. enough to get it creamy enough to get out of the jar.

Get rid of a head cold

After a little over 3 years I finally got sick.  I had a head cold.

 Lord have mercy.

I knew it wasn't allergies when the Lavender and Peppermint weren't really working.  They always work on my allergies very quickly.  But, this just did not want to go away; or let me breathe through my nose... at ALL!

I knew I was going to have to do something different.  After checking with other Young Living users, and www.ylsearch.com   we decided to give RC a try on the sinuses and ingest a capsule with Oregano and Lemon.

WORKED LIKE A CHARM.  I began this protocol on Sunday evening and by Wednesday I was completely well.  :-)  Praise the LORD.  :-)

If you find yourself with a head cold/sinus infection, I strongly encourage you to give this protocol a try.
